The Ship Artist, a Brush, and the Macaw

Description

For the first time ever, a character that shares my name and her pet macaw have finally found their way into my deviantART Gallery as the first picture ever completed of them by me! Trust me, I've been drawing them before a few times already, but none of those drawings actually were good enough to consider completed.

Now, my fellow Black Fedora Pirates can finally have the original vision of this particular character and her clever avian (look at that plumage), too! However, I must note that the outfit Linda is wearing is not her everyday wear, but the one that she goes out on adventures with! It's completed with a feminine black fedora she customized for herself. It also has a fanged clasp and necklace, but that's because she really likes some details out of the wild in her clothing. But on casual deck-scrubbing and eating and sleeping and sketching days, she usually wears a random t-shirt, long cloth trousers and some comfortable footwear, like tennises. And she doesn't bother with accessories then, either.
Also, the brush she's waving around is not a normal one. Due to Linda being one of the more ordinary crew members that are perfectly human and harbour no special powers, she once set out to an adventure to discover something to enhance her adventuring experiences to not be that useless to others. Since the only apparent talents she has are making art, cooking, writing and singing, and none of them are actually useable to survive during fights, she really decided to change that little fact about herself. So, after that particular adventure (I will write a story of that sometime, soon!), she had found a special brush that could make whatever she painted come to life. But the trick was, this brush required no paint but only her love and willpower instead. That way, only paintings that had been done with care, a flurry of emotions and focused details were able to last long enough to aid her before crumbling into magical paint. Though, apparently, paintings that had been done so perfectly and were taken out of the ground also could last however long she wished. So she can paint a cup of tea and actually drink the liquid without it being ever turned into paint again. This feat also has a reverse effect - her paintings that have come to life can also be reverted back into paintings with her brush. So anything that she creates will be completely under her control.

I got the brush idea from Rythe Lythandas from The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, who apparently also had a magical brush with what he could go into his canvas and actually paint in the picture itself. Linda's magical brush is a little different and works the other way, but I only made it so that it wouldn't be a complete rip-off of Rythe's brush. Also, AisuruTheWolf1's story helped with the brush's background, as well. His 112 page story, where Linda was present throughout the whole adventure, helped me form a base for the general brush idea. Here's the story itself, if you're interested: The Marble Sun Tournament

In this little drawing, you can see all that I wished to show about these three details. I initally thought of a different background for this one... a more simple one... but then I kinda forgot what I was exactly doing and this happened. Sangue-Padre has a fancy railing, too! It's mostly because we are pirates with class. With the fedoras and all. Yup.
Also, I think I rushed with almost everything, especially the shading and background, but I gave up on a lot of stuff because I felt that I already messed up the whole thing while I was at it. But in the end, it turned out pretty satisfying to me! The macaw was probably the most fun to make, because of those awesome colours. I based it off some real macaw with similar colours, but I'm too lazy to look up the species and I had added a bit of blue and orange to his feathers, too. This was actually pretty fun to make in overall, and I had promised to myself for a long while already to do this. I lost track of time while making this, so I don't know how many hours it took. Probably more than 5. Or maybe less. I can't remember.

In any case, I hope you like it! :boogie:

No stealsie.

That Macaw is so vivid! :D  And that island in the background is precious :XD:

I love all of the details you put into this piece!  I really need to get to drawing Aisuru some day.  And I'm glad I could help with the brush idea!  ;)
